Urban legends once again filled the air in casual conversation while awaiting the aerial entertainment over San Francisco bay–legends of planes going under and/or between the cables of the Golden Gate Bridge, and stories of jets breaking the sound barrier during the show. Of course they’re nothing more than folklore…well, until today that is.
The FA18 Super Hornet kicking off Sunday’s airshow seemed to have a bit of a mishap as it (I suppose accidentally) went supersonic over the city. The bone-rattling sonic boom rang over San Francisco as Twitter exploded with tweets of panic over what had happened. And it was awesome. I would have done anything to get a photo of the vapor cone around the aircraft as it happened, but no such luck.
I have no pictures of the Navy ships because they would not let me take my camera aboard.
