Philips X2 Fidelio Headphones
I decided to get a pair of X2s because I wanted the ultimate in headphones for home use, and every audiophile review I read of the Philips X2s gave it the highest rating. In fact, I couldn’t find a single complaint about the X2. When it comes to premium headphones audio fidelity, it doesn’t get much better than this.
The music just melts in my ears in these babies. The sound is smooth from classical to rock. For open-ear headphones, the bass is really tight, the mids sing, and the highs are clean and accurate.
The X2s are huge and fully open, so everyone around you will hear what you’re listening too. They’re made for home, so I wouldn’t think of trying to wear these to the gym or take them on vacation.
With the huge form factor comes comfort. They meld onto the ears for hours of fatigue-free comfort.
If you’re not plugging the X2s into a high-end hi-fi system, don’t sell them short with crappy mp3 files or computer soundcards. On the computer, I feed my audio through my Cambridge DacMagic amp and feed my FLAC albums through Audirvana processing software.
